The Brookline Samlahn School

The Brookline Samlahn School - side view

The Brookline Samlahn School is located in Samlahn Village, Tbeng Muey Commune, Sangkum Thmei District in Preah Vihear Province. The province is located northeast of Siem Reap and is still very rural.

The Brookline Samlahn school is an upper elementary / lower secondary school including grades seven through nine, with students ranging in age from twelve to fifteen.

Construction of the school began in January, 2010 and was  completed in July 2010!

The School will open in October, 2010 for the first cohort of 50 7th graders from the village and surrounding areas.  Students will study history, math, physics and Khmer.  Year two will include grades 7 and 8; and year three will include grades 7-9 serving up to 300 students.

By the beginning of year three, we hope to have raised funds for the addition of a library, English teacher and computers with internet access.

Maplandia has a neat interactive map where you can get a sense of the landscape and topography of the Samlahn village region.  Click on the link to check it out!
